Description
One of the most extraordinary and popular items from the manufactory is a "Memento mori". When Ignaz Günther designed his majestic crucifix in 1756, a skull was found at the foot with cross bones. With its distinctive eye sockets and the stylized shape of the jaw, the four centimetre small skull became an important artefact. Four individual cast parts are required to form this miniature in the master workshop, even the jaw has its own mould. In the workshops of the Nymphenburg Manufactory, various skulls are made in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, in black or white biscuit and the colourful hand painted Skull Edition initiated in 2010. Of course, the skull can also be painted according to your own creativity and imagination - contact us!
